Here’s the latest specific to women riders:

I want to encourage female riders to enter the Regional Qualifier’s (RQ), but it’s not the only route to being invited.

While it’s not mandatory to enter an RQ for a wildcard, entering is another opportunity to earn one. One wildcard to Huntington Beach will be awarded to the top scoring woman rider at each of the 3 stops.

The 2nd wildcard at each of the 3 stops will be decided upon after the event. It could go to the 2nd highest scoring woman, or to a rider from the demo. We’re keeping that flexible in order to get the best riders available invited to Huntington Beach.

Vans prefers a field of 20 female riders for Huntington Beach broken down as follows:

10 invitations will go out before the series starts.

The remaining 10 spots for women break down as follows:

2 Wildcards from Sydney stop  (1. the top scoring rider in the RQ, 2. TBD)

2 Wildcards from Malaga stop (1. the top scoring rider in the RQ, 2. TBD)

2 Wildcards from Guadalajara stop (1. the top scoring rider in the RQ, 2. TBD)

4 Wildcards TBD

Registration for Sydney is still open. The regional qualifiers are open to men and women (16 years and over) from anywhere in the world.

Please contact me if you’re interested in attending the demo or have any questions about this event. These are major steps for women bmx competitions in comparison to some of the other international events. Lets make this series the best one yet for women, this event has been offering more progress for women to compete internationally than any other global championship event to date, they have been working with us since only last summer.
